Westside food distribution serves 600 households in one morning

Neighbors, volunteers, and partner farms filled a parking lot on Hollowell Parkway with fresh produce, staples, and conversation.
By 8:30 in the morning the tables were already stacked with collards, sweet potatoes, and rice. Volunteers formed two lines so that families could move through quickly without ever feeling rushed.
Food security is rarely about a single hard week. It is about the gap between a paycheck and a rent increase, or between a medical bill and a grocery run. Our distributions are designed to close that gap quietly and consistently.
Households who stopped by also met resource navigators who could point them toward utility assistance, housing intake, and health screenings scheduled later in the month.
